Resumen:
This work presents and compares two rock art sites, Tres Lagunas 1 and Las Tres Marías, near the Genoa Valley in West-Central Patagonia (Tehuelches Department, Chubut Province, Argentina). Both sites have paintings that correspond to the complex geometric abstract tendency, also known as the fretwork style. In this work, we proposed examining the intersubjective variation in the rock art’s coding and classification, given its importance in the quantification of motif types. The differences and similarities between these sites are thus analyzed in terms of the types of motifs present and discussed in a regional context. The quantitative importance of the framed motifs and the presence of stencil-masking at the Las Tres Marías site is also discussed.
