Alicia Partnoy’s Poetics of Solidarity: Translation, Ethics and Activism

In this seminar, and drawing from both sociological and discursive paradigms, my study of self-translation practices in connection with the work of exiled writers explores various aspects concerning the construction of subjectivity in their writing. The seminar centres on the figure and work of Argentinean human rights activist and writer Alicia Partnoy and specifically examines her testimonial bilingual poetry. The analysis carried out shows that translation operates as an inherent mechanism that contributes productively to the political and multilingual making of Partnoy’s work and poetics.
