Resumen:
The present work presents a solution to the problem of controlling the width of strip in a rolling mill that is a critic factor to have into account in order to reduce production costs. To control the hot rolling mill it is proposed the use of a neural networks based scheme that acts on the looper currents, modifying the tension of the steel strip in the finishing train. The control algorithm is tested in a simulator of the strip rolling mill of SIDERAR, developed at the INAUT.
