The present work is related to the Co,Ba,K/ZrO2 catalyst deposition onto Al2O3 foams and cordierite monoliths to be tested for soot combustion. The ZrO2 coating was added by washcoating whereas Ba, Co, and K were added by impregnation. The soot particles were incorporated using soot suspensions in water or n-hexane as solvents. When soot was added to the Co,Ba,K/ZrO2 /foam catalyst using a 600 ppm soot supension in n-hexane, the maximum combustion rate temperature in the presence of 0.1% NO was 370 ±10°C. No significant differences in activity were found when the soot was incorporated to the Co,Ba,K/ZrO2/monolith catalyst.
