Resumen:
Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) analysis is applied to study the ablationthreshold and the main plasmas features of active crystals laser processing doped with Nd3+ ions. The experiments were done using nanosecond laser pulses from a Nd:YAG laser and its harmonics.Particularly, we have studied the ablation process in SBN (SrxBa1-xNb2O6, x=0.6 Strontium BariumNiobate) and BNN (Ba2NaNb5O15) non linear and ferroelectric crystals. Two different ablationregimes have been identified by LIBS analysis with high sensitivity compared with the standardmethod of hole diameter measurement.Analyzing spectroscopically the plasma emmission we have found a particular behaviourwith the excitation wavelength. As an example we mention that the electronic density andtemperature in SBN generated plasmas present an abnormal behavior with the excitationwavelength. In this sense we have concluded that the absorption gap corresponding to these crystalsplay an important role in describing this fact. Hence the resonant ablation in doped crystals can be asuitable point to be explored in further works in order to use the plasma performances to optimizethe laser processing by ns pulses for technological applications.
