All available type specimens of the family Evaniidae (Insecta: Hymenoptera) described by J. Brèthes, now housed at the Entomology Division of the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales "Bernardino Rivadavia", were examined and their status as type specimens was asserted. As a result five new combinations are proposed: Evaniella bonariensis (Brèthes) comb. nov., Evaniella friburgensis (Brèthes) comb. nov., Evaniella platensis (Brèthes) comb. nov., Evaniella porteri (Brèthes) comb. nov. and Evaniella rufescens (Brèthes) comb. nov., all of them transferred from the genus Evania. Additionally, lectotypes are designated for E. bonariensis, E. friburgensis and E. platensis.
