Resumen:
In polymer nanocomposites the polymer chains are confined to nanoscale dimensions (1-10 nm). These materials have unusual properties, which cannot be obtained simply by co-mixing the polymeric component with the inorganic phase at the macroscopic level. Film-forming, silicabased materials are useful as tough, abrasion-resistant coatings. Water-borne, film-forming vinyl polymer-silica nanocomposite particles, were prepared by (co)polymerizing 4-vinylpyridine (4VP) with low Tg comonomers. In this paper SAXS characterization of some of these film-forming polymeric nanocomposites are presented and discussed.
