The systematics of the New World Asopinae genera still poorly understood, 3 hampering their study in many areas of biological science. Tylospilus is one of the less known 4 genera among predatory stink bugs, despite its potential as a biological controller in crops. 5 Here we make a contribution to the knowledge of Tylospilus Stål, 1870; the species 6 Tylospilus nigrobinotatus (Berg, 1879) is redescribed, and based on type specimens 7 examination, T. armatus Thomas, 1992 is considered its junior synonym. Furthermore, a new 8 species is described and an updated identification key for Tylospilus species is provided.
