Resumen:
This work presents measurements of the relative energy of the tilt grain boundary (GB)in pure ice bicrystals with crystalline misorientation. The GBs had different inclinationsand they were annealed at and. A GB structure model called facet model (FM) wasapplied. The FM assumes that the GB is composed of facets. The facets are orientedwith the principal faces of the cell primitive of the coincident site lattice (CSL). TheCSL is associated to the bicrystalline misorientation. In general, varies more than one order of magnitude between temperatures() and ( ),so GB structural changes are very noticeable with temperature. The GB energy does notdepend on the inclination at temperatures near , while the dependence with inclinationpresents a slight significance at . Finally, it was observed that the GB relative energyfor bicrystalline samples is lower than the relative energy at other crystallinemisorientations. These experimental data are unique and could explain the slow GB migration inbicrystals and they couldhelp to understand grain growth in polar ice where the mostfrequent crystalline misorientation is
