Th e spider genus Ariadna Audouin, 1826 is represented in the Argentinean and Chilean faunas by nine species at least. Th e type specimens of the Chilean species described by Nicolet (1849, under Dysdera) were examined, confi rming all the synonymies established by Simon in 1896 (D. virens, D. incerta, D. coarctata and D. longipes with A. maxima).
