Resumen:
The study of a spider collection from southern Argentina and Chile provides new data on the geographic distribution, biology and zoogeography of the austral spider families Malkaridae and Mecysmaucheniidae. The Malkaridae are recorded from Argentina for the first time, represented in the Valdivian forests of Río Negro and Neuquén by Chilenodes australis Platnick & Forster, previously known only from Chile. Chilarchaea quellon Forster & Platnick, Mecysmauchenius osorno Forster & Platnick, Mecysmauchenius gertschi Zapfe and Mecysmauchenius thayerae Forster & Platnick (Mecysmaucheniidae) occur in several localities of southern Argentina; all these taxa were previously known only from Chile. The unknown female of M. thayerae is described. New records of Mecysmauchenius segmentatus Simon and Mecysmauchenioides nordenskjoldi (Tullgren) are also provided.Chilenodes australis Platnick & Forster, previously known only from Chile.
