Resumen:
Orthogonal frequency divisionmultiple access (OFDMA) is a multiuser communicationtechnique that allocates to eachuser a set of orthogonal carriers. In the presenceof carrier frequency offset (CFO) the orthogonalityamong carriers is lost and is impossibleto recover information of the users withoutCFO compensation. The resulting multipleaccess interference (MAI) can be describedas an interference matrix of large dimensions.In order to compensate for the CFO, this matrixmust be inverted, what is computationallycomplex. Therefore, a banded matrix approximationis usually introduced. In this paperwe propose a circular banded matrix which is abetter approximation to the actual interferencematrix. Also, by means of numerical simulation,we show that neither banded nor circularbanded matrices approximations work well fornormalized CFO close to 0.5.
