The article discusses the political history of Argentina and the intervention of the military in politics and in government. It explores the significance of analyzing the Argentine authoritarian experience to the problems and limitations of military interventionism in politics. Arguments about the role of the military in developing societies are presented. The article also discusses the emergence of sustained military authoritarianism in the country and the lessons that can be learned from the Argentine authoritarian experience.
