Resumen:
XTANTbryophytes include nearly 15,000 species dividedinto three major groups: hornworts, liverworts and mosses(Crandall-Stotler et al., 2009). Although the fossil record ofthis group starts in the Ordovician, the macrofossil re-mains are scarce and include some examples that are oftenconsidered ambiguous (Schuster, 1984), especially in thePaleozoic. In contrast to this, after the Jurassic and especiallyinto the Cenozoic, the abundance of bryophyte remains in-creases and the fossilization in amber or as permineraliza-tions enables more detailed studies of these groups(Frahm, 2003; Taylor and Taylor, 2012; Tomescu, 2016).The difference between the extant and the extinct recordis noticeable and currently under discussion regardingwhether this difference is caused by their preservation po-tential or the lack of specialists in the group (Tomescu, 2016,and references therein). In South America, th
