Jean-Jacques Rousseau´s Version of the Primacy of the Practical

The question pointed out by the Academy of Dijon, I quote, "Has the revival of the sciences and the arts contributed to improving or corrupting morality?" is the question to be solved out. The question points directly to the relationship between theory (sciences, in general) and practice: has the theory practical consequences, moreover, has it good practical consequences, does it improve morality? I think that from the First Discourse we can deduce two different answers to the problem and consequently two different ways of understanding the relationship between theory and practice. I discuss my hypothesis by means of an oral discussion of some selected paragraphs from Rousseau´s First Discourse (I attached I brief sketch of my presentation).
