Resumen:
TheSierras Pampeanas province (Argentina) is a modern archetype for lithosphericresponse to flat-slab subduction, yet studies of fault reactivation and basininversion have been hindered by polycyclic sedimentation driven byPaleozoic-Mesozoic continental growth and rifting. The Paganzo Basin givesinsight into the earliest tectonic, climactic, and base-level changes (e.g.,basin inversion, Late Paleozoic Ice Age, Namurian transgression) of westernGondwana. Through integrated provenance and chronology methods, we seek toimprove paleo-geographic and environmental reconstructions of this region tobegin to resolve detrital signatures of sediment recycling and weathering.Thisstudy focus on 1) Improve and refine the chronostratigraphyof the Paganzo Basin, 2) Present a depositional model for the earliest basinphase (prior to Permian extension), 3) Infer paleotopographic highs using geochermochronometry,4) Produce a provenance framework for further collaborative work on identifyingsediment recycling using novel detrital grain methods.
