Resumen:
Effective transboundary corridors play a crucialrole in jaguar Panthera onca conservation. Local residentsreported jaguar sightings along the Baritú?TariquíaBiological Corridor, which prompted us to carry out thiscamera-trap survey. We surveyed an area of 1,243 km2 acrossthe corridor to confirm jaguar presence. We used 50 singlecamera stations, with cameras placed c. 5 km apart. We placedthe cameras along trails, streams and mountain ridges. We recordedjaguars at seven sites across the Corridor; at leastthree different individuals were identified. These recordsconfirm the presence of the jaguar in the Baritú?TariquíaBiological Corridor between Argentina and Bolivia, atrans-frontier area of the Austral Yungas facing multiplethreats but hosting one of the southernmost jaguar populations.Conservation efforts in border regions can promotecollaboration and synergies between agencies and otherconservation stakeholders, with important implications forwide-ranging predators such as jaguars and their habitats.
