Resumen:
Fiber optic dosimetry (FOD)
technique offers a simple way to perform real time
and in-vivo dose rate assessment in radiotherapy with
high spatial resolution [1].
So far plastic scintillators and C-doped aluminum
oxide (Al2O3:C) are the most promising converters of
the ionizing radiation to light (radioluminescence,
RL) from the viewpoint of application for this
technique. The interest in this research area prompted
the development of alternative RL materials that
better meet the needs of technological applications.
In the present work we investigate the RL emission,
RL spectra and phosphorescence (i.e. afterglow) of
LiMgF3 doped with Eu, Ce, Tl, and Lu. The effective
atomic number of this material is near to tissueequivalent
with an Zeff = 9.86.
