Resumen:
The aim of my paper is, preliminarily, to offer arguments on the formal or literary sense of “Augustanism” in the final passage of the Metamorphoses. First, I will try to examine whether or not the irony has mordacious characteristics and how this influences the passages in which it appears. Second, I will focus on the meaning of “mythologization” as a clue for the representation of the universal history that ends in Rome. Third, I will analyze the value of the theme of apotheosis and the meaning it has in the work by using the concept of “reading”. This will raise conclusions about the final apotheosis of the poet and about the formal sense of a work that ends in apotheosis.
