The purpose of this paper is to present some of the results of my previous studies on the subject of the political status of the Argentine National Territories and, by doing this, to pose some new questions for further research. In particular, my interest lays in presenting a case that I consider offers several dimensions for a comparative approach between other historical experiences of territorial expansions by federal republics.
