Resumen:
Characterization of newly formed bone tissue around surface modified Zr im-plants is one way to determine and quantify the bioactive response of these gen-erated surfaces. The objective of the present work is to evaluate if the surface modification treatment, by the anodizing technique, has an effect on histomor-phometric bone tissue parameters such as mass of bone or bone density, in an in vivo model. For this purpose, a clustering algorithm was designed for the seg-mentation of trabecular bone tissue in histological images. The experimental re-sults show that anodizing treatment at 30V produce a significant increase in bone volume. This is evident because the number and thickness of trabeculae increase and the separation between them decreases. Keywords: bone tissue, images seg-mentation, implants.
