Resumen:
Argentina has several milk basinsand one of the most important is located in Pampa region. Specifically inRafaela city, the first robotic dairy farm has been operating since 2015. It isthe only one in the country and currently produces 1300 liters of milk per day.An average amount of 40 m3.day-1 of wastewater isdischarged to a pond system (anaerobic and facultative ponds). Effluent qualityafter treatment does not allow its reuse for the cleaning of dairy farm floors, thus an additional treatment is required to reach a better quality. There are thousands of constructed wetlands inoperation worldwide for the treatment of different effluents (Wu et al.,2015). However, this technologyis poorly implemented in Argentina (Maine et al., 2017). The aim of the present research wasto evaluate and compare contaminant removal efficiency of subsurface horizontalflow constructed wetlands (HSSFWs) using Typhadomingensis (native species) or Phragmitesaustralis (exotic species) for dairy farm wastewater treatment.
