Resumen:
One of the fourteen grand challenges for Engineering in the 21st century is providing access to clean water so affordable and advances technologies could make a difference for millions of people around the world. A demand for one simple- to-use filter material exits. Recently, this group was reported a multifunctional POM-SILP water purification filter. The POM-IL was based on antimicrobial tetraalkylammonium cations and POM anions featuring vacant metal-binding sites. In this work, we built on this concept and combine guanidinium and caffeinium organic cations, two important pharmacophores generated by simple reaction conditions and available chemicals, with POMs as is expected to result in further enhanced antimicrobial properties.
