Resumen:
The Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) promotes basic andapplied research to understand how drivers and processes ofglobal change present challenges and opportunities in mountainsocial-ecological systems. It convenes a global network thatcollectively generates and synthesizes knowledge on global changein mountains that also supports decisions and actions to enablesustainable development. Building on the considerable social andintellectual wealth fostered by the MRI over its past 20-plus yearsof existence, we outline future directions aimed at supporting andfurther developing the network as well as our flagship andcommunity-led activities aimed at linking and scalinginterdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research efforts within andacross mountain regions worldwide.
