In this paper we try to accomplish an overall interpretation of Pierre Charron´s treatise On wisdom, emphasizing its pedagogical character and its purpose to teach the disciple a way of life that "follow" nature. In our view, while Charron?s concept of "nature" is not skeptical, scepticism in his academic variant gives him the main arguments for freeing the disciple of four cultural vices -passions, opinion, superstition and science- that impede a direct contact with the spontaneous and natural, contact which model is the behavior of animals. In this sense, within the swarm of philosophical lines that converge on the treatise, academic scepticism seems to offer a key essential to understand charronian system.
