Resumen:
The membranes used in biomedical applications must meet certain requirements, such as: biocompatibility, biodegradability, must be properly integrated withsurrounding tissue, easily manufactured and must provide mechanical support to stimulate cell repair and proliferation1. Another requirement in tissue engineering is the correct choice of materials and the design of scaffold structure. Most of the materials proposed to promote the regeneration of cartilage and bone are based on biocompatible and biodegradable polymers. An alternative to these types of polymers those obtained from fumaric monomers, aderivative from the maleic acid, easily accessible in our country due to its widely used in Argentinean petroleum industry. In this work, we presented the copolymerization of dioctyl fumarate (DOF) and N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM) in order to select a suitable polymer to use asa biomaterial.
