Resumen:
In 2016, just a few months after the government transition, one-fourth million people were suspended or lost their jobs in Argentina. In this context, we developed a unique database on mental health of 451 individuals dismissed between November 2015 and June 2016 in order to help with epidemiological concerns and policy-related interventions. Having gathered this information, our main objective is to examine gender asymmetries in job-loss impact on mental health. Bivariate and multivariate -econometric/machine learning- outcomes conrm that this impact is up to 33% higher for women. Our empirical evidence supports the emergence of a new gender-gap in the labor market. Along with the participation-gap, the employment-gap, the general wage-gap, the glass-ceiling-gap and the sticky-foor-gap there could be an emerging `burning- oor-gap´ by which job loss has a stronger deleterious eect on women mental health
