Resumen:
The tyrosine kinase Tyro-3, Axl and Mertk (TAM) receptors and their endogenous ligands Protein S (Pros1) and the Growth arrest-specific factor 6 (Gas6) have been shown to play an essential role in haemostasis, removal of apoptotic bodies, control of the inflammatory response as well as in the pathogenesis of different diseases. Scarce information regarding this axis and small intestine has been reported. We are interested in studying the TAM axis in human small intestine under physiological and pathological conditions, such as in Celiac disease (CD). CD is a chronic enteropathy characterized by epithelial cell death, loss of villus structure as well as others histological changes as consequence of an uncontrolled Th1 response specific for wheat proteins. The aim of this work was to assess the expression of components of this axis in the human small intestinal mucosa.Duodenal samples were collected during the routine procedure for CD diagnosis (CD patients=11, controls=9). Sections of paraffin-embedded tissues were analyzed by immunofluorescence. RT-qPCR analysis was carried out on whole duodenal biopsies. Non-parametric T-test was used.We found higher expression of Gas6, at mRNA (p
