Resumen:
Electrical systems currently face a new technical and operational paradigm, subject to the development, positioning, and maturity of different renewable energy sources under conditions of access to energy and their efficient consumption. Electrical systems are the largest engineering structures in energy systems. Therefore, they are affected and vulnerable to being affected by different contingencies and disturbances that can cause the power supply to be suspended. The studies and management associated with the safety and reliability actions of the electrical systems have been carried out under the supposed considerations of outputs and/or unavailability of the elements that make up the network. The analysis and evaluation of the events of a low probability of occurrence but that cause high impacts in the systems are studied in this document. Through a methodological analysis the resistance of the electrical systems, their limitations, characterization, and differences with the reliability are exposed. As well as the metrics and research need related to resilience in the different functional stages of electrical systems.
