Resumen:
Ephemeroptera is an insect order with an aquatic nymphal stage, encompassing approximately 3,000 species belonging to 42 families and over 400 genera. The genus Baetodes is one of the most diverse and widely distributed genera in the Baetidae family of Ephemeroptera, it has 52 known species distributed from Arizona and Texas to Argentina. Considering that Ephemeroptera species have poor dispersion, it is expected that among very distant populations there is a hidden diversity. Studies carried out in Europa and Africa revealed a high degree of divergence between populations. In the neotropical region, the genetic diversity and phylogeographic patterns of Ephemeroptera are poorlyknown mainly due to the lack of studies. The aim of this work is to evaluate the genetic variability of 16 s mitochondrial marker and describe its phylogeographic pattern in B. huaico, in its geographic distribution.
