Resumen:
This paper presents a numerical model for the study of the mechanical behavior of a tire in contact with the asphalt by means of the finite element method. In the model, the structure of the tire is composed of rubber, steel rings, and reinforcement fibers. Reinforcement fibers are represented by a composite material, where the matrix is made of rubber, while the reinforcement is continuous steel and Nylon fibers. In a first stage, the behavior of the tire is simulated with an internal inflation pressure and in contact with the asphalt. Then, in a second stage, a constant rotation and translation speed is imposed. With the results obtained in this work, the rolling resistance coefficient was calculated of the tire.
