Resumen:
In this work, the reactivity with temperature of a Sm2O3-CeO2 mixture using
gaseous chlorine as chlorinating agent has been studied by thermogravimetry under
controlled atmosphere in the 20-950ºC temperature range. Reactants and products were
analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy
dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). A computer assisted thermodynamic analysis to propose
the possible products of reaction along with a comparison between the reactivity
towards temperature of the Sm2O3-CeO2 mixture and those of the chlorination of the
individual oxides were performed in order to determine the possibility of chemical
separation when both oxides are present in solid mixtures.2O3-CeO2 mixture using
