Thiswork describes the synthesis of an Al2O3-Ni-Al2NiO4-NiOcomposite. The composite is obtained in two-steps. At the first step, powdersof Al, Ni and C are mechanically mixed and compressed as pellets. At the secondstep, the pellets are thermally treated. The second step consists in twoconsecutive thermal treatments. An Al2O3-Al2NiO4mixture is obtained in air at 1400 °C for 12 h. After that, an Al2O3-Ni-Al2NiO4-NiOcomposite is obtained in H2/Ar at 900°C for 8 h. The experimentalconditions are selected to obtain both a stable matrix and a reactive metal inthe final composite.
