Abstract We present a systematic revision of the Mouse opossum of northwestern Argentina; included are three genera and eight species, Gracilinanus (new for the region), Micoureus, and Thylamys. Two subspecies of Thylamys are elevated to species. The distribution of each of the taxa was determined using specimen records. External and cranial descriptions, measurements, and comments on the taxonimy and natural history of each species are given.
