Grain boundary migration was studied on pure bicrystalline ice samples taking into account the groove formed due to interaction between grain boundary and free surface. Bicrystals with   and  crystalline misorientations were prepared with the Sun and Bauer configuration and annealed at –60C during approximately 1400hs in a silicon bath. Samples were analyzed considering that the groove development was controlled by surface diffusion. The grain boundary mobility corresponding to the studied grain boundaries, as well as the surface diffusion coefficient for ,  and  crystalline planes were determined.
