Resumen:
Introduction: Social inequality is part of a naturalized, self-evident and apparently unchangeable social landscape. It has always been there, and that unquestionable durability ignores its dynamic and historical character. The situation is alarming: by January 2020, 2,153 billionaires had more wealth than 60% of the world population, and it is confirmed that all the indicators of poverty and inequality are sharpening in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the melting pot of injustices of patriarchal-capitalism, inequality is one of many things that are not right and that is overwhelming to think about. Objectives: Throughout this work, we will seek to show the usefulness of an approach from Political Psychology to understand subjective experiences and the specific and singular link that people make with this socio-political phenomenon. Methodology: the work systematizes Political Psychology contributions, focusing on Latin American research. Thus, a systematic bibliographic review of the works of the area in the last two decades was carried out. Contributions: On the one hand, significant contributions were found around perceived social inequality, and the psycho-social and psycho-political determinants that impact on the possibility ofperceiving existing inequities. On the other hand, contributions regarding the justification of social inequalities in their different dimensions were ratified, hand in hand with the analytical framework of the System Justification Theory. Likewise, contributions related to the understanding of social inequalities are recovered, specifically in childhood and its relationship with political socialization processes. More recently, lines of inquiry related to the justification of gender inequalities have been registered. Based on the findings, certain possible lines of articulation with the design of public policies and political actions are suggested.
