This study aimed to analyze the electoral option for CristinaFernández de Kirnchner in Argentinean?s presidential election 2011 andcontribute from a psycho political perspective to the analysis of votingbehavior. We discuss how socio-political climate, political cynicism, politicalideology and emotions toward the political system affect politicalsophistication and internal and external political efficacy. Also, we analyzedwhat percentage of the variance of the intention to vote for Cristina Fernándezde Kirchner (behavioral and affective dimension), would be determined by thisset of variables. We used data from a non-probabilistic sample of 350 18-65-year-oldCordoba?s Citizens. Sample was quota by gender, age and socio-economic statusand surveyed during the five days previous to the election (October 23th,2011). Results discuss the mediating role of social-cognitive variablesrelative to the election of a presidential candidate. In turn, the relevance ofconsidering affective and situational variables related to socio-politicalcontext in analysis of this nature is emphasized.
