Resumen:
CHARACTERIZATION OF FAMILY AGROFORESTRY SYSTEMS AND USE STRATEGIES OF ENVIRONMENT IN THE ARGENTINIAN ATLANTIC FOREST ABSTRACT ? In the Atlantic Forest of Misiones, Argentina, there is a variety of family agroforestry systems (SAF), which vary in design and management according to the use strategy of the environment by local residents. According to their strategy, SAFs can approach a model of agriculture that prioritizes environmental homogeneity (industrial) or heterogeneity (traditional or subsistence). This research aims to describe the productive spaces and the use strategy of the environment that make three groups of family farmers: "colonos", "campesinos" and "agricultores urbanos". Each lives in a different landscape matrix. Thirty in-depth interviews (10 per group) and field trips were made. An index of importance of productive space for monetary income of the family (IEPIF) was generated. This index is estimated on the prominence of each space in family economy and the area of each type of production. Farmers using more than 70% of its SAF for industrial purposes were classified as specialists and the others as generalist. It was observed that the total of "campesinos" and "agricultores urbanos" develop a generalist strategy, while half of the "colonos" fit into the specialist category. The mode of appropriation and management of SAFs suggest differences in perception and production expectations among the groups of family farmers. The categorization of generalists and specialists was adequate to conceptually organize the productive logic present in the three landscape matrices.
