Resumen:
Maceri, S., ?Dialogue as a viable solution for decision making: human diversities and human identity?, trabajo expuesto en el Congreso bilingue: Sixteenth International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities 5?7 July 2018, University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, USA. We are diverse in many ways: gender, family, race, religion, class, among other diversities. The difference, however, presupposes human identity. The human being is, mainly, human and, on this basis, their diversities can be recognized without losing their identity. Now, in an extreme situation of danger for someone, in which another can help, the question of decision-making arises. Who should be helped? Who is less diverse, similar to us? Someone with whom we identify? And, if so, with whom and why do we identify? In the words of Amartya Sen, who is our neighbor? In this paper we will show that dialogue is a viable solution to give a satisfactory answer, even to decide if we should help is not necessarily our simile. Dialogue works as a sui generis methodology whose implication is the decision making in the dilemma of helping someone, similar or diverse to oneself, who is in danger. The emblematic case of the Good Samaritan will be exposed. The results mean for the field of study the revaluation of dialogue as a tool for decision making in favor of a fairer community.
