The origins of the German scientific cooperation in the field of geography in the province of Tucumán, go back to the decade of 1940, when the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán entrusted to the geographer Wilhelm Rohmeder the foundation of the "Instituto de Estudios Geográficos". More recently, in 1989, with the project "The urban climate of the Greater San Miguel de Tucumán" the cooperation was reinitiated and the same keep up until nowadays
