Rural housing in the Sierras of San Luis province are the result of the possibilities offered by the natural environment, climatic and topographical conditions of the region and the needs of the family. These houses are located far away from urban centers and are permanent residence of rural families engaged in animal husbandry and to a lesser extent to farming and mining activities. The predominant constructive system combines adobe walls raised on stone foundations. Occasionally, some houses have all the walls built completely of stone. Regarding the roofs currently persist some traditional roofs made with different layers of mud and straw and others elaborated with modern materials.
