Resumen:
The measurements obtained by the Cassini magnetometer investigation (MAG) during the first orbits of its mission around Saturn yielded a rich set of observations of the bow shock and the upstream region at that planet. In this work we comment on the properties of the Kronian bow shock as implied by MAG data. We also study the properties of non-linear, low frequency waves observed in the foreshock of Saturn and we discuss their origin and their role in the formation of the quasi parallel shock. Finally, we compare these recent results with similar observations at Jupiter obtained by Cassini MAG during the 2000-2001 Jupiter flyby.
