Saturnian Foreshock and Boundary Phenomena as observed by Cassini

On its initial insertion orbit at Saturn, Cassini approaches in the pre-noon sector and passes through the foreshock region upstream of the bow shock. During both inbound and outbound segments of this first orbit, crossings of both the bow shock and magnetopause will occur. An overview of these observations will be described as well as comparisons made with earlier Pioneer and Voyager results. Implications of the observations in relation to the magnetic configuration and morphology of the magnetosphere will be discussed.
