Resumen:
New Delhi metallo-b-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) was initiallyidentified in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates inSweden from a patient previously hospitalised in India [1]. Accordingto the Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network (Pan AmericanHealth Organization/World Health Organization), NDM-producers inLatin America have been scarce and associated with species ofEnterobacteriaceae from Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil,Uruguay and Costa Rica, although in Honduras and Paraguayit was reported in Acinetobacter. (http://www.paho.org/hq/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_view&gid=24472; accessed17.06.14). Here we report the emergence of NDM-1 carbapenemasein Argentina.
