In this chapter we will overview recent advances in the application of computational approaches for the development of new anticonvulsant drugs. We will structure this review in two main sections, one focused on direct, target-based approaches and the other focused on indirect, ligand-based methodologies. Due to the limited availability of experimental structures of some of the most prominent molecular targets of antiepileptic drugs, the volume of reports of indirect approaches is far larger than the one for direct methodologies.
