Since it started spreading beyond its home range about 20 years ago, the visibility and impact of Limnoperna fortunei on industry and on the ecology of the water bodies invaded has fostered many studies on this species. While much of this information is in the mainstream literature, a sizable proportion is in the "grey literature", in little known journals, master and doctoral dissertations, internal reports, books of local or regional distribution, etc., often in languages other than English. This book will summarize and update this valuable information making it more accessible to the scientific community, industry, and decision-making administrators. Related issues (e.g., the theory of biological invasions, analysis of invasion routes and mechanisms in general, etc.) will not be treated, except when specifically associated with Limnoperna.
