Resumen:
In an island in the Transition Zone of the Biosphere Reserve of the Paran¨¢ Delta, phytotelmata environments were studied as mosquitoes larval habitat. We studied the seasonal variation in mosquito species that inhabit in Eryngium sp. These habitat are characterized from physico-chemical variables of water, and the relationship of these with the presence and abundance of species represented were studied. From December of 2002 to December of 2003, there were 233 monthly axils plant Eryngium sp. The mean of volume of liquid in the axils, 69 ml 1 (730-0 ml), the average water temperature was 18.6 ° C (33.6 -5.3 ¡ã C) and air 20.7 ° C (36.1-5.8 ¡ã C), the mean of pH was 6.9 (7.95-4.23), dissolved oxygen 4.6 mg / l (36.4- 0 mg/ l) and conductivity 805.8 ms (9770-3 us). A mean of 7.95 individuals of Cx. hepperi and 0.15 for Cx. castroi were recorded. Cx. hepperi was more represented in summer and autumn. Cx. hepperi was positively related to the volume of liquid in the plant. Our results show that the productivity of Cx. hepperi in Eryngium the Parana Delta is related with the volume of liquid that these plants contain, especially in the warmer months.
