Resumen:
Abstract This article provides a discussion of the ethical concerns and issues that emerged when conducting social research. It illustrates briefly the pathway that standard codes and guides of ethics had been through. For that purpose, the article mentions some controversial studies that have contributed to the development of regulations to protect human research participants (Nazi Research; Tuskegee Syphilis Study; Milgram Study; Willowbrook Hepatitis Study). It also identifies current approaches to safeguarding ethical standards and not the mere adherence without further reflections, such as the proposals of communitarian and feminists models of ethics.
