Historiography on Congresses in Argentina, 1810-1910

My presentation focuses on the historiography about Congresses that was written in the last 40 years, after the last democratic transition in 1983 and in the context of the constitutional reform of 1994. The most general contributions were made by lawyers or scholars of the history of law who found this was a way to contribute to ?the consolidation of democratic institutions?, and, also by political scientists who were trying to understand the weakness of Congress in the 20th century. Very schematically the production on this topic can be divided into three large groups:On the one hand, the works addressing the years that go from the crisis of the colonial order to the adoption of the first national constitution in 1853. Secondly, those on the state building process, from 1853 to 1880/90. And, finally, the studies dealing with the performance of Congress from 1890 to 1916.
