Resumen:
Istaroxime is an inotropic-lusitropic steroid capable of both inhibiting Na+/K+ ATPase (NKA) and potentiating SERCA function. However, low concentrations in the range of 100-500 nMcan target SERCA without affecting NKA and inotropy. Given thatCa2+ alternans rely on the kinetics of Ca2+ cycling and that Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (SHR) are prone to developingCa2+ alternans with age, we propose to test if Istaroxime 400 nM can reduce the propensityand magnitude of Ca2+ alternans in cardiomyocytes from SHR.
